Les Lancaster, former pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, will return for his third year as the manager of the Sioux City Explorers.  This will be Lancaster’s 11th year as a manager in minor league baseball.

Les should know pitching as he spent seven seasons in the major leagues on the mound, including five with the Chicago Cubs.  He helped the Cubs to the NLCS in 1989 and was on the club that featured Hall of Famer Ryan Sandberg and was on the pitching staff with future Hall of Fame ace Greg Maddox.A native of Dallas, Texas, he started his college career at Dallas Baptist and later transferred to Arkansas where he was drafted by the Cubs in 1985.

Having won two league championships and having teams in the playoffs seven of the 11 years as manager, Lancaster knows what it takes to put a winning team on the field.

Although a native Texan, Les and his wife Candice now make their home in Dothan, Alabama.
